What is a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®? A Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® is a person living in your area that specializes in ceremonies. Some specialize in weddings, while others specialize in funerals. Some even specialize in both!
What do Certified Life-Cycle Celebrants® believe? The term “Celebrant” refers to a profession of ceremony officiants and is not based on any system of belief. It is the beliefs of the clients that are important in a ceremony and will be respected by all Life-Cycle Celebrants.
Who should choose aCertified Life-Cycle Celebrant®? The short answer is that anyone can choose a Life-Cycle Celebrant to do their ceremony! Many people who choose a Celebrant do so because they are marrying outside of the religious faith of their family and the clergy will not wed them. Other couples may have no religious affiliation at all and are looking for a non-clergy officiant. Many couples who choose to have a Celebrant officiate their wedding have heard of the beautiful ceremonies created by others in our profession and are looking for that same personalization.
How does one become a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®? To become a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® a person takes classes through the Celebrant Foundation and Institute (http://www.celebrantinstitute.org/). During the eight week course, ceremony structure and content are taught and emphasized. At the end of the certification coursework a person passing the class will graduate to become a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®.
Why do Certified Life-Cycle Celebrants® cost more? You spend a great deal of money to make sure your day is perfect. Between the venue, menu, hair, makeup, tuxedos, and dresses you spend a small fortune! What you are there to celebrate is not any of those things, but instead the love that you and your betrothed share. Imagine hiring an officiant that bumbles the words, drops your rings, and says your names wrong! Celebrants write personalized weddings for each individual client so no wedding ceremony will be the same. We work with our clients to make sure that the words you want are included and those you don’t want are taken out. Not to mention, we will say your name correctly every time! This is the story of your love and you want it told by a professional that will bring to the forefront your love and devotion for one another.
Are you a wedding planner? No. There are some things I can help with such as music cue sheets for the musicians at your venue, processional and recessional cue sheets for the venue director, and other aspects related to the ceremony itself.
